I decided to jump on board and participate in “Quilty Stitches” sponsored by Little Miss Shabby
I just couldn’t resist.
It’s been a while since I’ve done any cross-stitch and while this isn’t perfect… I’m really liking it so far. Just print off the pattern and color it in using whatever appeals to you….She gives you a reference on the colors she used but, do what you like….She is up to block #6 now… so I’m a little behind.
…..until next time…..
Here is my finished New York Beauty…My plan was to make a mini wall quilt…..It looks good right…well the reason that I named this post BIG Bummer …. it’s the fact that some of these fabric’s are hand dyed.
I was happily paper piecing along when the notion of spraying the fabric with a little spray starch popped into my head. I had my pieces layed out on the ironing board and shot them with starch and watched in horror as the fabric bleed into the white.
At this point I decided that I wasn’t even going to finish it….I have since changed my mind. My throughts are that if I place it far enough away maybe no one will notice. Ha I might try some color catchers and see what happens. Maybe it will come out tie dyed……
…..until next time…..
I started making this quilt top in December. I was hoping that I would have finished it before I headed to MN for Christmas. As you can see it didn’t make it for the journey.
It’s mostly snowman fabric. My sister really likes blue so I had this in mind for her.
I made this Christmas Quilt and raffled it off with the family the last day that I was there. (That was really fun!) I used it the whole time I was there to stay snuggled up and warm. It’s been a really cold winter in MN this year with the polar vortex that’s been hitting the region – all winter long – They are so sick of it. That’s my brother Brad and his daughter Dakota snuggling with it. My sister Barb won it.
I guess I never posted the quilts that I took with me so here they are:
Swoon for my mom = She just celebrated her 80th birthday in February! It’s an 80 x 80 for her 80th. (Clever – right)
Log Cabin for Brad – Sorry for the dark photo
Snail’s Trail for Thomas – Another dark photo😦 – He has no idea how much work this was. Although I know he loves it!
………….until next time…………..
I’m paper piecing this morning!
Using this lovely batch of fabrics
I saw a little trick to help tare away the paper. Use your tracing wheel to pre score your paper – I’ll let ya know if it makes a difference…
…..Until Next Time…..
Happy New Year 2014
Happy New Year! and the month of January is gone – Wow can you believe that!
Our guild participated in the Riley Blake Challenge. Since it was right before Christmas it was decided that we should make a Xmas Stocking with our challenge fabric to swap at our holiday party.
This is what I came up with. I changed my mind so many times but, I think that it turned out really cute. Here is what the rest of the quild made. I received the second one on the top!
until nex time
Tap – Tap – Tap – Is this thing on……
I read that on Rachel Griffin’s Blog I thought that was pretty funny. I completely relate. You wouldn’t believe the amount of times I’ve started a blog post and never got around to finishing the post. Either because I finished the project and moved on to another one and decided that it was no longer blog worthly so…. I decided to show you what I’ve been up to lately. T-Shirt Quilts. I love the fact that my co-workers come into my office and give me a bag full of stuff. “Can you make me a quilt?” Of course I can! “What do you have?” as they spill the contents out.
This one had a three sashes. So I used them down the middle of the columes.
Ms Faye called it “A Quilt for Royality” She had to try on all of the sashes and prance around the house with them on. – LOL – Here is the completed quilt.
Meghan has received her quilt and loves it. Her mom told me that she wants to frame it. That makes me happy!
….until next time….
I started a granny square quilt this weekend…I used a pattern from the “Moda Bake Shop” web site……I picked up a couple of scrap bags from my local quilt shop….The Quilt Basket….
I was noticing that they were roughly 2 1/2″ strips…. I had just finished making this quilt for a friends wedding…
…..Hi Jerry and Lupita…..
I’ve been moving the scraps around in my sewing room for a while now so I decided that that was enough moving around and got busy…. I made the first block over the weekend….these three block were made last night after I put Miss Faye to bed….
After taking this picture I see that I have made a mistake in sewing the strips together in one of them….guess I’ll have to get the seam ripper out
…..until next time…..
