Mini Quilt

This is so charming……I can’t wait to get it quilted and hanging on my wall……….I just absolutely love it………It is a free pattern from  Anka Treasures the designers name is Heather Perderson……MN was having a designers blog hop when she gave this pattern out so go ahead and check it out…. there are other pattens that were available from some of the other designers as well…….I had brought the pattern along with me to MN so while I was there I shopped for the fabrics……..How appropriate……..until next time…….

Good Ol’ Summertime Mini Swap Undate

I’ve completed the top for the mini swap………..I’m still deciding on how I want to quilt it….

I probably should have quilted it as I appliqued it down…….I’ll think of something though………But In the mean time if anybody has any suggestions I’ll take um……I’m having a problem deciding what to do in the area where the words are

I didn’t realize that I used the colors of the Arizona flag  until Chris pointed it out to me….that’s appropriate don’t ya think………

I also had one other problem…….I never could figure out how people sew there fingers………Well I guess I figured it out NOW because I did it…..It happened so quickly…….. I was pretty lucky that it only grazed the surface…….just a couple layers of skin…. I did that last week and it’s pretty much healed already!

Look at the new toy I got!!!!!!it sure will be fun to take it on it’s first ride……

We’ve or I should say Chris has been working on getting it running for the past couple of weeks….. it still needs a few more things done to it and we still need to buy new tires…. we’re pretty sure they are dry rotted…….but we’re finally getting it to run pretty good…..it sounds GREAT!!….. until next time………

Getting Back in the Groove

I had to get started on my mini quilt for the Good Ol Summertime Quilt Swap the deadline is Sept. 21,  Last time I was a week late in sending out my quilt….I don’t want that to happen again….so here is my start, what do you think….I really like it….my girlfriend wanted me to make something from the Southwest, like cactus and lizards but, I made the sun……and she sure is cute….it’s going to make it hard for me to give it up…..

I was able to put all my stuff away that I purchased while in MN……..Did I tell you that I made it to 40 quilt shops……..here is a picture of my sister Carol and I with my trip to Texas and then on to Minnesota I think that I traveled around 4000 miles by car…….. I was getting a little tired of sitting in the cars…….but, I sure had a good time visiting with my family and the scenery was great…..One of the tourist things that we did was to go to the the Vince Shute Wildlife Sanctuary to visit the Black Bears  You can read all about the place if you click on the link….it was pretty amazing….I got some really nice pictures…..I can’t believe that people walk around and feed these animals it’s amazing…….well it’s good to be home and back in my own bed and getting into the groove of things….until next time…..

I’m Back!!

Wow – it’s been whole month since I’ve blogged…….and you know what,  I really missed it………I guess you can tell by the picture that Dakota received her quilt……..she loves it…….A LOT…….

Jay’s funeral was really sad……my sister and her son are coping…….I’m so proud of Thomas,  he is so grown up for a 10 year old….and I know that he will keep Carol busy…….after I left Texas I headed to Minnesota for my vacation……..Carol and her family planned on being there at the same time that I was there and she decided she would still drive up……so it was great that we could all be together a little longer……

My whole purpose of heading to MN was to attend Quilt MN so I got the whole family involved and that’s what we did…..Here is a couple pictures of the things that I purchased It’s a little over whelming looking at it ALL laid out on the floor but, it looks like a lot of fun…..and one more thing I got Dakota hooked on shop hopping and she even won a prize……. a gift basket from Main Street Cotton in Hutchinson they are the the head quarters for Thimbleberries……  It should be a great gift basket I’m so jealous………until next time……

Dakota’s Quilt

I loaded Dakota’s quilt on my longarm on Saturday……..and finished it on Sunday morning…….. I sewed the binding on last night…….my goal was to have it finished by July 31st……….I made my goal………here is a picture of the back of the quilt …….I used a pantograph called Feather Me for the quilting on this one………While I thought I would do some custom quilting on this one……I didn’t think that it would really add to the overall effect ………I keep thinking maybe if I wait a little while, I will get the nerve up to do something a little more creative…….. I know the Innova is up to the challenge… The question is, am I………in the end I decided that this pantograph would suit this quilt just fine…….or maybe I was taking the easy way out………I think that I’ll have to set another goal…………

Dakota will  be getting this quilt  a little sooner……….we had a death in the family…….I got the dreaded phone call on Sunday evening…….my sister called and her husband, her best friend had a massive heart attack and died……so I’ll be seeing Dakota along with the res of the family a little sooner than planned……I’m going to bring the quilt along and maybe it will bring a little sunshine to our days ahead ……..until next time…….

I’ve Been Busy

I completed another MN Block I must confess……I’ve been having a few issue with these blocks……on this block I sewed one of the triangles on the wrong side and had to substitute a different fabric…. I also did that on one of the other blocks…..yikes…..this seems to be a problem lately…..they still look good….I just need to pay better attention….good thing I only have one more block to go……..

I also completed this tablerunner ……..hmmm…….I wonder if my sister Barb will notice the fabric………could this be something that I’m making for her…………until next time……..

Spring Blooms Mini Received

This is the quilt that I received from the Spring Blooms Mini Quilt Swap that was hosted by the Quilting Gallery it came all the way from Spain!  It was Handmade by Vero……her blog is…… Las cosas de Vero ……..Isn’t it pretty……I love it…… she even attached a sleeve for hanging…….. …………I really like the orange fabric on the back also…..I’m planning on hanging it above my sewing machine……..until next time………

MN Blocks

I pieced a couple of the MN blocks yesterday that I won from Jan…….  I’m hoping to get that I can get a couple more done today…..I’d like to start playing with the lay out and see what else I’m going to need to make this a complete quilt …….

Kaiti’s Pillow

I worked on this special pillow for a little girl who lost her mommy……..I made this pillow from the aprons that she wore….she was a manager for Starbucks that’s where the green comes in……. and the black is from her aprons that she wore when she worked at Bashas……..of course I added the butterflies because it needed something girly………I also have one in progress for her son that one will have a ninja on it…………I  have her t-shirts that I’m hoping to get two quilts out of…..one for each of them…….I’ve never made one so,  I’ve been doing a little research on t-shirt quilt so well see how that goes…..if anyone has some advice I’ll take all I can get…….until next time……
