Tap – Tap – Tap – Is this thing on……
I read that on Rachel Griffin’s Blog I thought that was pretty funny. I completely relate. You wouldn’t believe the amount of times I’ve started a blog post and never got around to finishing the post. Either because I finished the project and moved on to another one and decided that it was no longer blog worthly so…. I decided to show you what I’ve been up to lately. T-Shirt Quilts. I love the fact that my co-workers come into my office and give me a bag full of stuff. “Can you make me a quilt?” Of course I can! “What do you have?” as they spill the contents out.
This one had a three sashes. So I used them down the middle of the columes.
Ms Faye called it “A Quilt for Royality” She had to try on all of the sashes and prance around the house with them on. – LOL – Here is the completed quilt.
Meghan has received her quilt and loves it. Her mom told me that she wants to frame it. That makes me happy!
….until next time….
I started a granny square quilt this weekend…I used a pattern from the “Moda Bake Shop” web site……I picked up a couple of scrap bags from my local quilt shop….The Quilt Basket….
I was noticing that they were roughly 2 1/2″ strips…. I had just finished making this quilt for a friends wedding…
…..Hi Jerry and Lupita…..
I’ve been moving the scraps around in my sewing room for a while now so I decided that that was enough moving around and got busy…. I made the first block over the weekend….these three block were made last night after I put Miss Faye to bed….
After taking this picture I see that I have made a mistake in sewing the strips together in one of them….guess I’ll have to get the seam ripper out
…..until next time…..
I’ve been making a few tote bags lately……Here one that I made last night…..I have access to some coffee bean burlap sacks from a local coffee shop :D…..I made this one for a lady that Chris works with…..this is the front and back of the bag
…..until next time…..
I been absent from my blog for a loooong while now…….It’s not that I don’t have anything to share I do…So I’ll start small and work my way back into it……
Our guild decided that it would be fun to swap “Mug Rugs” with the Bakersfield MQG……This is what I made….we have our meeting tomorrow……it will be fun to see what everyone else creates
……until next time….
Here is the finished T-Shirt Quilt ….. It finished at 60″ Square….it’s making it way to Tennesee as I write this, I’m so happy to report….I decided to try a little photo shoot with the quilt like so many people do….only I did it in my backyard LOL
I learned alot about making T-Shirt quilts from this project…..I didn’t use a batting since I used a fleece on the back…..hmm can it still be called a quilt…..members from the guild told me that since it has an interfacing on all the t-shirts that it still had three layers and could there for be called quilt….
another thing that I learned is that you need to be very careful while quilting it….I have an area that didn’t quite line up and the stitching over laps a bit….I thought that it might leave holes in the t-shirt area where the silk screening is and I didn’t want to risk that.
……until next time…..
I started working on a quilt for my nephew Thomas……
This is a quilt pattern that we received from one of the many quilt shop that participated in the MN Shop Hop…..Thomas was along for the ride a couple of summers ago and saw this quilt and really wanted it…..I’ve been collecting fabric to make this quilt for him for a couple of years now…..
Eight blocks down, 56 more to go….I wasn’t sure if I cut enough fabric so I thought I had better sew the four patches together to make sure that I had all 63 …..I didn’t….I cut exactly enough for half…..
I have since fixed that problem… I’m curious to see how I did on the rest of the patches
…..until next time….
Oh and if your wondering about the T-shirt quilt… I’ve finished it….. just trying to decide on the color for the binding
Had some extra time yesterday and was able to get the T-shirt quilt loaded on the longarm……after dinner tonight I was able to get some quilting in…..
Decided to stipple this one….
……until next time……
